Jumia On The Spot For Issuing Invalid Warranty To Its Customer

Online retailer Jumia is on the spot for issuing a customer, Marvne Elly, with an invalid warranty after he bought an LG TV set from them.

In a Jumia Order No. 303796368, Elly bought the TV and all was well until it malfunctioned mid this month, prompting him to take it to the LG centre for repair.

To his shock, he was told that the warranty is not valid in Kenya, meaning he had to bear the losses.

“I made an order to purchase a TV set on Jumia platform, and on order I was promised a two year warranty. Last week the TV malfunctioned and on taking it to the LG Service Center, I was informed the warranty was not valid in Kenya. This also means the TV was not meant for use in Kenya,” says Elly.

Efforts to get help for him have proved futile.

Of late, customers buying goods from Jumia have been complaining of poor quality services. Some customers have been receiving low quality goods than what they ordered, receiving wrong orders, delayed orders among others.

In one incidence, a customer who ordered a laptop on the platform with one terabyte of internal memory received a laptop with 250 gigabytes.

“Hi I bought a Lenovo laptop from Jumia but I was sent a much cheaper machine than what I ordered and paid for? You people are not serious. I had ordered a 1 tb memory but you delivered 250 gb machine,” says Josto Plato, a user on their Facebook page. Two days later, his issue had not been addressed.

Some orders take up to more than a week, according to complains on Jumia’s social media platforms.

Recently, a customer who had ordered for wall painting from Jumia was brought Dettol soap.
