Gor Mahia campaign in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup ended on a low on Sunday night following a humiliating 5-1 loss to RS Berkane of Morocco in Berkane.

The Kenyan champions endured a shambolic travel plan to the northern African nation ahead of the quarter-finals second leg match with some players arriving an hour to kick-off.

K’Ogalo needed to overturn a 2-0 first leg win but ended up soaking in five more to exit the troubled campaign on 7-1 aggregate loss.

The sole goal was scored by Lawrence Juma.

Before losing the first leg encounter at the Kasarani Stadium a week ago, the players had staged a strike, demanding to be paid accrued winning bonuses.

The team gave a planned pre-match camp a wide berth with players, except two, Francis Mustafa and Erisa Ssekisambu, assembling for the match an hour to kick off.

They ended up pulling a low key show, losing at home for the first time season.

The delay in traveling to Morocco for the rematch has been largely been attributed to difficulties securing air tickets from the government but the team’s management will be hard pressed to explain why they did not have a fall back plan.
