Airtel Kenya has rolled out new promotional billboards and advertisements in a bid to lure customers into their network as well as retain their existing ones, ahead of its merger with Telkom Kenya that has gotten Kenyans talking.

Through the hashtag #GetWhatYouPayFor, netizens on Twitter have appreciated the efforts of the network to ensure that their customers get the value of the bundles they buy.

On the billboards, the network has two apples, one green one and the other one red.

The green one is partly eaten whereas the red one is still whole.

According to KOT, the green one symbolizes the competing network, Safaricom, which most of them complained of how fast it consumes data bundles.

Despite Airtel promising to give its customers the value for their money, some customers lamented that the coverage of the network is not effective in some areas.

“I use Safaricom bundles not by choice but because airtel coverage is wanting in my area and there is no 3G,” one Pius Nzomo asserted.

Airtel Kenya is noted to have expanded its 4G network coverage to 40 new towns across Kenya which will see the telco’s customers enjoy faster internet speed.

In a statement issued by Airtel CEO Prasanta Das Sarma, the network noted: “Airtel is committed to constantly innovate and improve on the quality of its products and services as an active competitor in the Kenyan market. As such, we are delighted to be increasing our 4G sites across the country.

“The expansion of our network coverage will ensure that majority of the urban population are well covered,” he stated.

The towns that will benefit from the new coverage include: Kisumu, Lamu, Garissa, Bungoma, Nakuru, Nyeri and Meru.

The expansion comes after Airtel and Telkom Kenya signed as agreement to merge their businesses to operate as Airtel-Telkom, subject to approval by relevant authorities.
