With increasing cases of COVID-19 infections in the Country, the isolation chambers will ensure safe evacuation and reduce risk of contamination to both patients and ambulance crew during evacuation. Kenya has recorded 440 positive cases of Coronavirus in the last 24 hours, pushing the toll to 17,975. This was after testing 3,197 samples. In a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that all the newly detected infections were Kenyans except three who are foreigners. In terms of gender, the CS said that 286 were males while 154 were females. University of Nairobi (UoN) will not reopen in September despite ministry of Education directive. Vice Chancellor Prof Stephen Kiama said the institution will remain closed until experts advise otherwise. The VC also noted that the closure will help in combating the spread of the novel COVID-19. “University of Nairobi is at the epicentre of COVID-19. Chania Boys Principal on Friday collapsed and died during a meeting at the school. The deceased, Allan Macharia was pronounced dead on arrival at the Thika Level 5 Hospital. Confirming the incident was Thika police boss Beatrice Kiraguri who said that Mr Macharia developed breathing problems before he collapsed. His deputy principal, Simon Wahome said that the departed held a two hour meeting with contractor and a board member over the construction of a dormitory. Nairobi County governor Mike Sonko has claimed that he was not in his right senses when he signed over key county functions to President Uhuru Kenyatta. Nairobi County Assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi on Friday swore in a new clerk. This comes a day after the ousted clerk, Jacob Ngwele returned to his office after months of being in the cold.
