Popular city pastor Robert Burale has tested positive for COVID-19. This he revealed in a lengthy Facebook post detailing his battle with the deadly virus that crossed the 8,000 mark today. Two Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) employees have tested positive for COVID-19. In an internal memo, managing director Naim Bilal asked the other employees to put into practice measures laid down by the ministry of health. President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday declined to reopen bars. In his public address, the head of state said that bars will be restricted to take away services only. They will remain closed for another 30 days. Uhuru also banned public gatherings, political or otherwise, for a further 30 days. Bars have remained closed for three months now so as to contain the spread of the Coronavirus. President Uhuru Kenyatta has on Monday lifted the cessation of movement ban into and out of Nairobi, Mombasa and Mandera counties. A Kisumu police officer has been arrested after she shot at her husband twice. Administration officer Maureen Awuor, 35, attached to CIPU headquarters in Kisumu East, is said to have quarreled with her spouse on Sunday, July 5. Sarova Stanley Hotel has temporarily closed Thorn Tree Cafe after two employees tested positive for COVID-19. In a statement, the hotel management said that the two unnamed individuals are receiving treatment and are in stable condition. Further, the establishment stated that the cafe has been disinfected and fumigated as is required by the ministry of health. A teacher has been arrested in connection with a car theft syndicate. DCI detectives apprehended David Ogeisia Migosi alias Nwalimu, a teacher at St. Columbans Secondary School in Kitale and two other accomplices. Nwalimu, the DCI said in a tweet, was the mastermind. Former NTV journalist Yassin Juma has allegedly been detained in neighbouring country, Ethiopia. Online reports indicate that the reporter was apprehended by the Ethiopian military for covering the protests that erupted in Oromoo. The protests were over the death of musician Hachalu Hundessa who was shot on Monday and buried on July 2 amid unrest. 81 people have been killed during the protests.
