Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has agreed to reconciliation talks with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) after they impeached her. The county boss was saved by an 11 member senate committee last week on Friday. The Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala-led committee did however note that the relationship between the governor and the ward reps was “acrimonious, contemptuous and cold.” As a result, Waiguru agreed to have 7 persons lead the talks. Kenya’s largest telecommunications company Safaricom has announced that MPesa services will be unavailable on July 3. In a message to customers, the teleco noted that customers will not access MPesa services between 11.59 pm Thursday night and 5 am Friday morning, due to a planned maintenance. “Due to a planned system maintenance, M-PESA services will be unavailable on Friday 03/07/2020 from 00:00am – 05:00am. Kinangop residents were grief striken as they laid to rest four children allegedly poisoned and strangled by their mother on Friday. There was horror at Athi River Police Station on Wednesday morning after a businessman found decomposing bodies of two minors in the boot of his car. A Mombasa cleric whose son succumbed to the novel COVID-19 in March has also died of the same disease. Bishop Elisha Juma of Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG) Tudor died on June 29 while receiving treatment at the Mombasa Hospital. Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council (KMPDC) has declared Athi River Shalom Hospital free to resume operations. According to KMPDC CEO Daniel Yumbya the facility can resume operations as soon as the premises are fumigated and properly disinfected. Two members of parliament (MPs) have contracted the deadly COVID-19, national assembly speaker Justin Muturi has confirmed.
