A Murang’a court clerk was on Friday night lynched by angry villagers after he refused to have his son buried on family land. Stanley Mureithi Muriuki of Gitumbi Village, Kirinyaga County was set on fire by the villagers who were making funeral arrangements. Former Olympic and world 1500m champion Asbel Kiprop was on Saturday slapped with a 4 year ban by the IAAF Disciplinary Tribunal. The ban is dated from February 3, 2018. The athlete was found to have been in violation of the IAAF anti-doping rules. A woman on Friday night killed her husband using a hammer and axe at their Good Samaritan village home in Gatanga, Murang’a county. The couple, neighbours said, have been going through some rocky times which could have led to the heinous act. On Thursday, senior police officers were missing in action at an event attended by Deputy President William Ruto raising eyebrows. Moi University sixth year medical student Ivy Wangechi’s funeral is currently underway at her parent’s rural home in Othaya, Nyeri County. Ivy, 25, was hacked to death by Naftali Kinuthia outside the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital on Tuesday last week. Former National Lands Commission (NLC) Muhammad Swazuri will alongside 10 others spend the Easter weekend in custody pending bond hearing on Tuesday. Swazuri was apprehended on Wednesday by EACC detectives over the irregular compensation for a parcel of land in Mombasa to construct the Southern Bypass and the Kipevu Terminal link road.
