Mombasa County government has announced a raft of measures to help curb the spread of Covid-19. In a statement signed by Governor Ali Hassan Joho and County commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo, the county banned home-based care ICU facilities for Covid-19 patients. The county government has also suspended all public gatherings and in-person meetings until further notice. All live performances in hotels and dancing have also been banned in the coastal county. Nine people accused of fraud alongside Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua have been charged with defrauding Nyeri county government Sh27.4 million. Appearing before magistrate Rose wakhungu on Tuesday, the nine accused persons denied two charges of conspiracy to commit an economic crime and fraudulent acquisition of public property. The accused persons include; Mathira CDF manager William Mwangi Wahome, Ann Nduta Ruo, Jullianne Jahenda Makaa and Samuel Murimi Ireri. Woman who sued House of Grace bishop David Muriithi has claimed that her life is in danger. Judy Mutave Muasya on Monday sued the televangelist for Sh100,000 in child upkeep. Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro was among leaders and businessmen accompanying Deputy President William Ruto on a private trip to Uganda. But the second in command was barred from leaving the country after a five and a half hour stand off with immigration officials at the Wilson Airport. Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has announced 323 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 3,676 tested in the last 24 hours. The total number of infections has risen to 192,758 with a positivity rate of 8.8%. The cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,053,912. From the cases 298 are Kenyans while 25 are foreigners, with 180 being males and 143 being females. Twelve people lost their lives on Saturday night after a fuel tanker rolled off the road and bursting into flames along the Kisumu-Busia Road. Two percent of the adult population has so far received the Covid-19 vaccine, Ministry of Health has confirmed. At least 1,035,621 people have received the first dose while 572,361 have been inoculated twice. The total vaccine uptake thus far is 1,607,982. This comes as Kenya recorded 692 new infections from a 6,883 sample size.
