Kenya has recorded 287 new cases of Covid-19 from a sample size of 2,699 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now 10.6% with a total of 182,884 infections. Cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,945,736. 280 of the new cases are Kenyans while 7 are foreigners. 170 are males and 117 are females. A court has upheld the impeachment of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko. A three-judge bench consisting of Justices Said Chitembwe, Weldon Korir and Wilfrida Okwany ruled that 88 MCAs signed the motion to impeach him and none of them came to court to dispute their signatures. Chitembwe said that each MCA signed against his or her name and that only 44 were required to pass the impeachment motion. Wife of Dutch businessman found dead at his Shanzu apartment has been arrested in connection with the murder. Riziki Cherono, the wife of Herman Rouwenhorst, is said to have been picked up by homicide detectives on Thursday at her Bamburi home. According to Coast Region Police Commander, Paul Ndambuki, Cherono was apprehended following the conclusion of a probe. Maasai Mara University Council has dismissed claims that Spencer Sankale Ololchike, the institution’s chief finance officer, was fired for appearing on an exposé dubbed Mara Heist back in 2019 on Citizen TV. A Kenyan national is facing charges for allegedly poisoning ex-girlfriend’s child in Canada. Francis Ngugi, 45, was apprehended on Sunday and was later charged with two counts of administering a noxious substance to endanger life.
