Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto has dismissed claims that a High Court on Friday declared the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) unconstitutional. In a statement, Ogeto stated that the allegations swirling around are false. “We wish to state for the record, that the said allegations are untrue,” Ogeto said. Chief Justice Martha Koome wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to appoint the “rejected” six judges. Speaking during the swearing in ceremony of Daniel Musinga as the Court of Appeal president, Koome said the moment was “bitter, sweet” since four judges who were supposed to be sworn in were absent. A High Court on Friday declared the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) unconstitutional in a petition filed by Law Society of Kenya. NMS was formed in March of 2020 with Major General Mohamed Badi at the helm. Badi, deputised by Enosh Momanyi, took over four key devolved functions including; health, transport, public works, utilities, planning and development dockets. Nyali police have opened an inquiry into an alleged assault case against presidential hopeful Mukhisa Kituyi. Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has directed the Coast Regional Police boss to open an investigation into the allegations reported in May. A school principal in Kericho County is nursing injuries after being attacked by a Form Three student on Wednesday evening. The attacker in question is a student at the Ainamoi Secondary School.
