Four people died and two others sustained severe injuries in a road crash on the Isiolo-Moyale highway on Friday. According to the police, the victims were headed to Isiolo from Moyale town when the incident occurred at around 1.30pm. Marsabit County Police Commander Samuel Mutunga confirmed that the driver of the ill-fated vehicle died on the spot. He is said to have lost control of the vehicle and the car veered off the road and rolled several times. “The injured were rushed to Marsabit Referral Hospital,” Mr Mutunga said. The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) secretariat will appeal a five judge bench ruling that declared the Amendment Bill unconstitutional. Speaking on Friday, the secretariat co-chairs Junet Mohamed and Denis Waweru dismissed the ruling as judicial activism. Police in Kisumu are holding a woman who is believed to have stolen 950 treated mosquito nets worth at least Sh380,000. The suspect, Mary Awino Ohala, is said to have stolen 19 bales of the nets which were discovered at her home in USAID estate in Kisumu. Police believe the mosquito nets are part of those given to Kenya by the Global Fund for free distribution. This particular consignment was stolen from Rabuor and Nyangande hospitals. The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has reviewed fuel prices for the period starting May 15 to June 14. In this month’s review, EPRA increased Petrol prices by Sh3.56 but retained the April prices for Diesel and Kerosene. Petrol will starting midnight retail at Sh126.37, Diesel at Sh107.66 and Kerosene at Sh97.85 in Nairobi. In Mombasa, Petrol will go for Sh123.95, Diesel at Sh105.27 and Kerosene at Sh95.46. A mentally ill man is missing after he alighted Madaraka Express Train on May 11. The man who has since been identified as 74-year-old Peterson Mwangi Ngunyi is said to have been found with an invalid ticket. But according to Mwangi’s daughter, Tabitha, her father was ejected from the train even though his ticket was valid. The National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) will starting May 10 inspect all motor vehicles above four years from the date of manufacture. In a letter signed by Interior and Citizen Services PS Paul Famba, all vehicles regardless of ownership will be inspected in line with Section 16 (2) of the Traffic Act. Two police constables accused of fatally shooting a businesswoman at City Park in 2018 have been found guilty of manslaughter. Police constables William Chirchir and Godfrey Kirui were on Tuesday found guilty of killing Janet Waiyaki on the morning of May 20, 2018, while in a car with her nephew, Bernard Chege.
