The government is seeking to recover money paid to a Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) official accused of forging academic certificates. Lillian Akoth who was on Tuesday arraigned before Kisumu Chief Magistrate Peter Gesora faced charges ranging from forgery, fraudulent acquisition of public property (salary), and violation of the Leadership and Integrity Act (2012). Two men were on Tuesday nabbed for being in possession of fake currencies worth at least Sh750 million. The duo, Samuel Maina and Boniface Mungai, were trailed to a Kilimani apartment where police discovered the fake monies. Kenya Power has explained the cause of a hitch experienced by prepaid customers on Sunday. In a statement on Monday, the lighting company said they have fixed the IT hitch but the system remains slow due to the high number of transactions. The National Lands Commission (NLC) head of Investigations Antipas Nyanjwa died of a heart attack, an autopsy exam concluded. The postmortem exam was conducted by Government pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor at the Montezuma Monalisa funeral home.
