A former MP has been accused of bigamy by his first wife, Agnes Mueni. 27 teachers have been fired for leaking this year’s Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (KCSE) exam, Education CS Prof George Magoha has said. The CS also confirmed that 35 civilians have been arrested and 53 mobile phones confiscated. Further, Magoha said, the exam results will be out by May 10. A High Court has extended orders barring City Hall from increasing parking fees within the city. Justice Anthony Murima on Wednesday postponed the matter until May 3 after the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) was enjoined in the case. The petition was filed by Consumer Federation of Kenya (Cofek) and the Matatu Owners Association. Cofek termed the county’s decision to double the parking fees as unconstitutional. A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer was fatally shot on Monday in a robbery in Nairobi’s Utawala area. Witnesses said Senior private Joseph Mwangi, 30, was walking home at around 8 pm when he was accosted by three thugs riding on a motorcycle. A High Court has ruled that the creation of the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) office was unconstitutional. The posts were created by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018. Anti IMF loan crusader, activist Mutemi Kiama has been released unconditionally. This was after the prosecution failed to provide sufficient evidence. Senior resident magistrate Jane Kamau on Tuesday directed that the Sh500,000 deposited as cash bail a fortnight ago be refunded. A senate committee has cleared Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) of negligence in the death of celebrated author Ken Walibora. In a report tabled in the senate, the health committee concluded that “The alleged negligence could not be proved.” In it’s report, the committee noted that Walibora received the necessary medical intervention upon his admission on April 10, 2020. “He accessed intensive care services at the critical care unit of the Accidents and Emergency department in KNH,” the report read in part. A senior police officer on Sunday sustained injuries while manning a roadblock in Pangani, Nairobi. The Pangani Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Samir Yunus was run over by a boda boda rider along Dr Griffins Road. Chief Inspector Yunus suffered a blow to the head and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. A Kiambu businessman has baffled detectives after confessing to a murder most cruel. Evans Karani, a Juja based businessman told police that he killed his 24-year-old girlfriend, Catherine Nyokabi, on Wednesday last week. Kenya on Saturday recorded 1,027 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 7,184. The total number of infections has risen to 151,287 with the positivity rate now at 14.3%. The cumulative tests stand at 1,599,668. From the new cases, 1,009 are Kenyans while 18 are foreigners. In terms of gender, 600 are males while 427 are females and the youngest is a two-month-old child and the oldest is 110.
