Five counties in the Coast region are experiencing power outage following a fire incident. In a statement, Kenya Power explained that the outage will affect Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Tana River and Lamu counties. “This follows a fire incident at Rabai substation in Mombasa this morning,” the firm explained. Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) has demanded the immediate release of four of its employees. The junior ICT staffers are allegedly being held at the agency headquarters by individuals who on Friday night identified themselves as police. The night raid led to the arrest of the employees present who were later released but left behind the four. The alleged police officers are said to have demanded that the employees leave their lockers and drawers open. Ex military man Peter Mugure is aware of the consequences of self-representation in a capital offense, the DPP told a Nyeri High Court. State counsel Duncan Ondimu while responding to a petition filed by Mugure last month said the DPP was not opposed to his request. “The applicant has a right to represent himself provided that he is warned of the dangers of self-representation in murder cases,” said Ondimu. Chief Justice hopeful Philip Murgor has accused suspended Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi of trying to embarrass him. The senior counsel was responding to a query posed during his interview with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on Friday. In a gazette notice dated April 14, the head of state urged members of the public to apply for the available slots. Police have in custody a third suspect in National Land Commission (NLC) deputy director of communications Jennifer Wambua’s murder. The suspect was picked up at his house at Ebulbul in Ngong on Tuesday night by DCI Homicide unit detectives. He has been identified as Peter Mwangi Njenga alias Sankale.
