A teacher who made headlines on Tuesday is in trouble with ministry officials over her 20 kilometre trek story. Mrs Magdalene Kimani, the Sosiana High School principal, told the Nation that she makes the daily trip to deliver KCSE exams to her 18 candidates. The daily estimated that by the end of the national examinations, the school head will have trekked for 320 kilometres, equivalent of a journey from Bungoma to Nairobi. Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and 10 others on Tuesday pleaded guilty to violating Covid-19 rules. They were charged with consumption of alcohol, failing to maintain a physical distance, not wearing face masks, prohibition of gathering and contravening provisions of curfew. Former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu’s woes are far from over as he fights to keep his luxury vehicles. Waititu popularly known as Baba Yao is in court seeking to restrain an asset finance firm from selling his two motor vehicles over a Sh10 million loan. The former governor who was ousted in January 2020 after the senate upheld a decision by the Kiambu court assembly to impeach him, wants Mwananchi Credit Limited (MCL) to give him more time to repay the loan. Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria spent the night in a jail cell for allegedly violating Covid-19 rules. It is said that the People’s Empowerment Party party leader was nabbed for holding a meeting over the upcoming Juja by-election at a hotel. He was apparently in the company of 60 others. Kennedy Otieno Oyier alias “Spiderman 3” will remain in custody for seven more days to allow more time for investigations. The suspect who was arraigned earlier today at the Kibera Law courts was linked to various burglaries in Kileleshwa and Kilimani Estates in Nairobi. The school calendar might not have to be altered, Education CS Prof George Magoha has said. A man nicknamed “Spiderman 3” has been arrested following burglary incidents in various Nairobi estates. Kennedy Otieno Oyier has been scaling walls of apartments and making away with cash, jewelry and electronics. The suspect was nabbed yesternight after theft incidents rose in posh estates of Parklands, Westlands, Lavington, Muthangari and Kileleshwa. He is the brother of John Otieno Oyier who was apprehended in January. John was charged over burglary and has since been remanded at the Industrial Area prisons. Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu will sit in the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) panel interviewing 10 candidates shortlisted for the Chief Justice position. Covid-19 positivity rate is currently at 12.4 percent after 1,030 tested positive from a sample size of 8,316. The total number of confirmed positive Covid-19 cases now stands at 145,184, while the cumulative tests conducted so far are 1,557,704. The new cases are of 995 Kenyans and 35 foreigners. 532 are male and 498 are females. The youngest is a 10-month-old infant day while the oldest is 99 years old. Lawyer Philip Murgor wants acting Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu to recuse herself from the interviewing panel for the CJ and Supreme Court judge. This he said as he responded to a letter to the JSC on LSK President Nelson Havi’s memorandum on his unfitness to hold the CJ position. Five KDF soldiers were among 52 people arrested on Saturday morning for flouting Covid-19 containment measures. The revellers were nabbed at a popular nightclub in Lolwe, Kisumu county. According to the police, the revellers had been locked inside the club past curfew hours. A man, his wife and their 1-year-old daughter survived an accident along Kajiado-Namanga Road on Saturday morning. The family of three was heading to Kajiado from Kitengela when the saloon car they were traveling in swerved off the road at Isinya near Umma University. Disruptions caused by the recent travel bans imposed by Kenya and UK will take a short time, Foreign Affairs PS Macharia Kamau has said. Police are pursuing a possible assassination in KBC Video Editor Betty Barasa’s case. Sources privy to the details say sleuths are probing a well planned assassination seeing as the attackers targeted the deceased out of six others. An autopsy report shows that Barasa who was waylaid as she returned home from work on Wednesday night, died of a single gunshot to the face which was lodged inside her head. 70 Anestar Boys High School Form Four students have been kicked out of school for breaking into Anestar Precious Girls Secondary School yesternight. The students who are currently sitting for their KCSE Exams will henceforth be required to organise for a place to stay as they write the remaining exams.
