Nairobi politician Ahmed Ibrahim or better known as Johnny has passed on. The Kamukunji MP aspirant is said to have collapsed on Friday morning. The cause of death is still unknown. 1,698 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 11,352 tested in the last 24 hours, the health ministry has confirmed. The total number of cases is 143,063 with the positivity rate at 14.9 %. Cumulative tests conducted so far are 1,542,088. 456 patients have recovered from the virus, raising the  total number to 97,650. 267 of these patients were in home-based care and 189 in various hospitals. 16 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. Narok county Roads and Public works CEC John Marindany has succumbed to Covid-19. Marindany, died while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Women’s Hospital on Wednesday evening. Governor Samuel Tunai, while confirming the news, mourned the deceased as a disciplined and dedicated staffer who served the county since 2013. “I have learned with shock and difficulty of the untimely death of Marindany. He was ordered not to use his social media accounts and will be required to report to the investigating officer on a daily basis until April 18. The US on Wednesday issued a Level 4 travel advisory against Kenya over Covid-19. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued the health notice warning its citizens against traveling to the East African country. There was confusion on Wednesday after government agencies could not agree on whether a person had died after receiving the Astra-zeneca vaccine. During the media engagement with journalists and the government, it was initially said that a woman had died in Uasin Gishu after being inoculated. Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has tested positive for Covid-19. The ex governor underwent a test on April 6 alongside other family members who he said tested negative. Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu has announced plans to set up a committee of experts to review the country’s Covid-19 measures.
