The Ministry of Education has declared closure of schools both private and public that haven’t met the required standards by mid-June. Speaking in parliament, Education PS Belio Kipsang stated that students of those schools that will be closed down will consequently be placed in other schools at the beginning of the third term. Police on Monday recovered two bodies of university students from an apartment near Kenya Methodist University, Meru County. According to reports, the authorities were alerted when the neighbors experienced foul smell coming from the room. The Meru police mentioned that they suspect that the man killed the woman before committing suicide. The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) boss Samson Mwathethe will serve in the force for one more year effective May 6. In a gazette notice issued on Monday, President Uhuru Kenyatta noted that he has extended Mwathethe’s term by one more year. Governor Alfred Mutua is likely to face citizen’s arrest to be organised by former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama over graft claims. According to the former Senator, Mutua has been involved in ‘massive corruption’ and should be held accountable for his dealings. Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) journalist, Jonathan Musau, has lost his son in yet another medical mishap at Shalom Hospital. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 20-year old girl. In a statement issued on Saturday by the DCI, the authorities arrested the duo, Dominic Okoth and Simon Gitau in Buruburu. Lawyer Assa Nyakundi’s case over the killing of his son last month has taken several twists and turns as the wife now seeks to block murder charge against him.
