Bharti Airtel has today revealed that its much talked about cross-border transfer of Airtel Money throughout East Africa will be operational by November 1st. Speaking during the 2014 East African CEO Business Summit in Kigali, Rwanda, Airtel Money Head Chidi Okpala, said that though planned for Africa, the initiative will enable Airtel Money customers to send, receive and withdraw money from their Airtel Money wallets. President Uhuru Kenyatta has refused to be drawn in to the thin SIM battle pitting Safaricom and Equity Bank saying that fair competition will enable consumers to get better data and mobile money deals. There seems to be trouble at one of the leading research companies in Kenya. IPSOS Synnovate which is mostly a research company but also has strong media monitoring and opinion polling arms, has just sacked its Chief Financial Officer Naftali Mwangi. According to sources within the company, Naftali was escorted out of the Westlands premises of the company and his electronics devices confiscated by investigators from the mother company, Synnovate. There is a problem at the Kenya National Exam Council. The safety and integrity of the exams offered through the council is in question as some candidates already have access to the yet to be taken 2014 KCSE exams. A source at KNEC has revealed that the exams have been leaked to key schools and this is causing jitters as the “privileged students” go and brag to their friends who have no access to the leakage. The official receptionist of the President going by the title of Chief Government Receptionist was last week assaulted by the Secretary to the Cabinet Office Mr Kennedy Kihara. In an OB No. 31 of 9th October 2014 at Parliament Police station, the victim, one Ms Rachel Kamatu allege that after a short argument, Mr Kihara assaulted her within the premises of the office of the President without warning. The MP who is among a delagation of PIC members in India to investigate the pre-election purchase of equipment for a total of over Sh10 billion. The legislators are particularly investigating the purchase of BVRs.
