US drone strike might have killed the leader of Al-Shabaab, Ahmed Godane in Somalia. The strike which was carried out in Sablale district, 168 kilometres south of Mogadishu, where al-Shabab trains its militants. Sources within Somalia indicate that Godane was definitely killed in the strike. Godane rose to prominence when he launched attacks inside Kenya because of Kenya’s involvement in the Somalia conflict. He warned that Kenya will lose the war of attrition in its own soil. 10 people are reported to have died late this morning after a lorry collided with a PSV along the busy Kisumu to Kakamega highway. The accident which claimed around 20 lives saw a build-up of traffic along the highway. A minibus christened Umoja collided headon with a pick-up which was carrying around 20 people. More than 14 people in the pickup died while around 6 people in the minibus also lost their lives.

Australian police have today charged the husband of former TV queen, Esther Arunga with murder. Quincy Timberblake was arrested by Australian police on Tuesday morning in relation to the death of his son Sinclair in Kallangur, in Brisbane’s north. Australian police allege that the boy had “significant” internal injuries which cannot be attributed to a fall as alleged by the parents. Uganda’s Rose Namayanja, who is the Minister of Information and National Guidance has ordered Linos Ngompek, the Masaka Resident District Commissioner to recover 12 heifers that were sold off by youth leaders after receiving them as a donation from president Yoweri Museveni. The buyer is said to be Richard Kimera, who is a farmer based in Masaka. He is under fire for buying off the Museveni donated Cows at low price. A university student, Mitch Kibiti, was this morning killed by the owner of club Etonia in Kimilili. Mitch who was a patron in the club apparently exchanged words with the owner of the club who drew his gun and shot him to death.
