President Uhuru has an official driver called Dan Machui. He is a Chief Inspector of the police from the elite Recce Unit of the GSU branch of the police.

On Wednesday just after dropping the President at JKIA (he was going to Mombasa), he decided to go to Ruai where he is developing some property. He was using an armoured BMW 5 series which is the official backup car in President Uhuru’s motorcade. Three thugs drew their guns as they approached his car and ordered out. His car windows were down.

They stripped him naked and robbed him off his loaded pistol. The search for the car is ongoing with elite Special Crime Prevention Unit, Recce, Flying Squad and CID units of the police all involved in the search. The car was last traced to Muguga but the signal later went dead.

Some of the vehicles recently added to Uhuru’s security detail
