South Korean phone maker Samsung has today launched an app which discourages use of smartphone while driving. The Android mobile app prevents you from texting while driving. The app which is available currently only Singapore might be rolled outside Asia as Samsung is exploring its full potential. The “Eyes on the Road” app uses your smartphone’s sensor fusion technology and GSM cell towers to measure your speed to determine if you’re driving. If you are, it hides phone calls, SMS text messages, and social media alerts until you reach your destination.  What if you are a passenger in a fast…

StarTimes has revealed that it will allow access to at least six Free To Air channels upon the expiry of subscriber’s monthly subscription. But the catch is that the access will only be for two weeks. I smell something very wrong. Free channels must be free whether the decoder is for Pay or not. There is no reason free channels should be disconnected for non-payment of a subscription fee. Why should free channels be charged? StarTimes, through a statement, claim that they will allow a two-week access to KBC, Citizen Tv, KTN, NTV, K24, GBS and STV-Guide upon the expiry of subscribers’…

I felt like sharing the nasty experience I had yesterday in Nairobi – my 1-hour ordeal in the hands of armed criminals in Nairobi! Yesterday, 10th at around 9.20am I was among the first customers to be served at Co-op Bank – City Hall branch; at around quarter to 10 I visited a Forex Bureau housed just across at EcoTowers then crossed to Gulf African Bank along Kenyatta Avenue. From there I walked to Co-op Bank again but this time around the one along Kimathi Street. At around 11.30am I got into Turkeys Beba Beba and did some shopping. Thereafter…

It looks like the Jubilee government is going to limit people’s freedoms with queer laws. The recently appointed NACADA chairman, John Mututho has insisted that all house parties must have permits. The permits are currently being issued. A Twitter user has posted an image of such a party on the social networking platform. One of the conditions on the permit is that there will be no political discussions during the house party. This sounds bad. Kenyans be ready!!! You are in for a rough ride.

The truth must be said however painful. Kidero is growing balls and not balls which will help him. First, know that I hated the candidature of Kidero. He will never help Nairobi, the country or his supporters. He is engaged in trivialities and pettiness. His arrogance and the above-the-roof ego cannot be matched by any living politician’s. So Evans Kidero personally called Raila to attend the Governor’s ball at the KICC 11th December (eve of the Kenya@50 celebrations). He called more than once and personally signed the invite which was delivered to Raila. He even insisted that Raila arrive at…

Nairobi is readying itself for the impending Digital TV Switch-Off on Friday 13th December 2013. Most broadcast players are well prepared for the switch-off except for the 3 major broadcasters who believe that they should only sabotage the impending migration. MultiChoice under the GOtv brand, StarTimes Media and Zuku have all been running campaigns encouraging the switch-off while Nation is leading the likes of Royal Media and Standard Group in resisting the attempt to introduce sanity in the broadcast sector by freeing up spectrum previously occupied by analogue TV signals. GOtv, launched in September 2011, has been the biggest champion of…
