The Twitter account belonging to the BBC’s weather service was hacked on Thursday, the British broadcaster has confirmed. The pro-Assad hackers and online activists, “Syrian Electronic Army”, claimed responsibility. The same group previously claimed responsibility for hacking Barack Obama’s Facebook page. The group previously targeted the website and Twitter account of  Human Rights Watch and that of the French news service France 24. The African Development Bank (AfDB) has launched Open Data Platforms (www.afdb.org/statistics) for 20 African countries as part of AfDB’s recently launched “Africa Information Highway” initiative. Some of the countries covered in the launch are Algeria, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, Republic of Congo, Senegal, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Orange is following in the footsteps of yuMobile which launched the Pay4me service in January 2012. The mobile network operator has now launched ‘NiSort’ service which enables subscribers to reverse call charges to the person they expect to communicate with. This service is available on Orange to Orange calls.
