US federal officials said they have opened an investigation into former special counsel Jack Smith, who led two federal criminal cases against President Donald Trump before resigning from his post earlier this year. A police officer was Saturday morning found dead after he had been stabbed and killed in a robbery incident in Dandora area, Nairobi. Police said constable Layford Gitonga of Dandora police station was off duty when he was fatally stabbed in Dandora Phase Three. His mobile phone was stolen in the incident, police said. A man was killed in a fire incident in Amboni area, Mweiga, Nyeri County. Police said the fire broke out on Thursday destroying the house belonging to Anthony Mureithi, 34 who died in the incident. A private security guard was injured in the hands after a teargas canister that he had exploded on him in Githurai area, Nairobi.
