Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas has been arrested and charged with allegedly running an illegal, high-stakes poker ring out of his home in the Los Angeles area. Mr Arenas, 43, is charged along with five other defendants, including one Israeli man who prosecutors claim is a “suspected organized crime figure”. Prosecutors have charged him with three federal crimes, including operating an illegal gambling business and making false statements to investigators. A former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer Patrick Osoi, who was arrested on Tuesday after forming a movement with two police officers with the intention to fight police brutality, was on Wednesday arraigned at the Kahawa Law Courts. A Malindi court granted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) permission to exhume bodies believed to be buried in shallow graves in the Binzaro area, Makongeni Sub-location, on the outskirts of the town. A pilot and his student were injured after a light aircraft they were flying crash-landed in Ewaso Kedong, Kajiado County. The two had flown from Wilson Airport and headed for Kajiado on Tuesday July 29 at about 3 pm when the incident happened. The aircraft 5YCDW crash-landed at a farm in Ewaso Sublocation, injuring the two. The aircraft was damaged in the incident. Police are investigating an incident where a 17-year-old girl died after she complained of stomach pains in Kware, Nairobi. It is suspected that the girl had carried out an unsafe abortion at her Kitui home before she traveled to Nairobi for further treatment. A gang raided a construction site along the Southern bypass in Langata, Nairobi and robbed machinery parts of unknown value. Police and officials at the China Road and Bridge Cooperation said the raid happened on Sunday at dawn.
