Detectives are investigating an incident where a man was robbed of Sh240,000 after he had withdrawn the same from a bank in Mumias, Kakamega County. It is suspected the attackers had information on the man’s movements. The victim told police he had been to KCB Mumias Branch where he withdrew the cash for personal use on March 17. Police are hunting a gang that raided a homestead in Kathare, Meru County and shot a man in a robbery incident. The gang also threw a live grenade at the home but it failed to detonate. Police said this is after it landed on a soft surface in the compound and that it was safely picked up for analysis and detonation. A police officer who is among a team deployed to the ongoing Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission in Haiti was Tuesday shot and injured during an operation in Port-au-Prince. The mission officials said the police officer was injured while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area on Tuesday March 18, 2025. Spokesman Jack Ombaka said the officer was promptly evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention and is in stable condition. A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from taking any further steps to shut down the US Agency for International Development (USAID). In a ruling Tuesday, Judge Theodore Chuang said the efforts led by Trump ally Elon Musk’s Department for Government Efficiency (Doge) to close the agency likely violated the US constitution “in multiple ways”. Chuang ordered Doge to restore access to USAID’s computer and payment systems for employees, including those who were placed on leave. The Israeli military says it is carrying out “extensive strikes” in the Gaza Strip, with the Hamas-run health ministry reporting more than 400 Palestinians have been killed. A man was found dead in his house hours after he had asked his sister to visit him in Umoja, Nairobi. The decease identified as Valentine Isayi, 30 had sent his sister a message on the mobile phone requesting a meeting on March 16. A man died after he was hit in the head by a wood during an altercation in Nzombe, Kitui County. Police said Kavu Kamwana was seriously assaulted in Matikoni village and sustained severe injuries He was rushed to Zombe Sub County Hospital, where he was later referred to Kitui County Referral Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
