Police are hunting a gang that raided a homestead in Kathare, Meru County and shot a man in a robbery incident. The gang also threw a live grenade at the home but it failed to detonate. Police said this is after it landed on a soft surface in the compound and that it was safely picked up for analysis and detonation. A police officer who is among a team deployed to the ongoing Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission in Haiti was Tuesday shot and injured during an operation in Port-au-Prince. The mission officials said the police officer was injured while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area on Tuesday March 18, 2025. A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration from taking any further steps to shut down the US Agency for International Development (USAID). In a ruling Tuesday, Judge Theodore Chuang said the efforts led by Trump ally Elon Musk’s Department for Government Efficiency (Doge) to close the agency likely violated the US constitution “in multiple ways”. Chuang ordered Doge to restore access to USAID’s computer and payment systems for employees, including those who were placed on leave.
