The National Youth Service (NYS) Director General James Tembur announced major changes moving top managers within the department.  He said those affected must report to their new stations by April 12. The changes were announced in an internal memo dated April 3. “The affected officers should be released to report to their new stations immediately, in any case not later than Friday April 12, 2024,” he said. This came amid reports some of the affected were resisting the transfer. They included senior superintendents, superintendents, chief inspectors and inspectors among other managers. Inspector General of police Japhet Koome Monday April 8 moved and named director of Kenya police reforms Boniface Maingi the new director of Internal Affairs Unit (IAU). Maingi replaced Judy Jebet Ndeda who was recalled to police headquarters. Ndeda had served the position since December 1, 2023. Apart from Ndeda, a number of her officers at IAU were also moved, insiders said. It is not clear what position Ndeda will take at police headquarters where she was moved to. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki Tuesday expressed concern over the ongoing strike by health workers, which he says is in defiance of a court ruling. Kindiki said the doctors have continued with their unlawful strike and it has come to his attention that threats are being made against health workers who have chosen not to participate in the industrial action. Four family members have been buried alive in a mudslide in Narok’s Torokiat Village following heavy rains. Police say the victims of the Monday night incident include father, mother, son, and a daughter. The youngest victim is three-year-old. At least 51 passengers narrowly escaped death after a bus they were traveling in was swept by raging floods at Lager Areli area along the Nairobi-Garissa highway. Police and witnesses said 51 passengers on board the Nairobi-bound bus narrowly escaped death. Police are investigating the murder of a 44-year-old man in Juja Farm area, Kiambu County. The body of Joshua Njoroge Kuria was found lying on the roadside at Zone P area long after he had died on Sunday, police said. The man had a deep cut at the back of the head. Kisii teacher cum blogger Duke Nyabaro was strangled, an autopsy revealed on Monday. The autopsy said the strangulation was manual and caused the death. They range from whether prospective jurors listen to podcasts to their feelings about a former president being criminally tried in state court. The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi said Tuesday it has received information about threats to multiple locations in the Somali capital, Mogadishu. At least eight people were Tuesday morning killed in a road accident at the Ngata area, Nakuru on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway. This was after three vehicles were involved in the accident. The vehicles were a Toyota van and two lorries, police said. The accident increased to 14, the number of those killed in two separate accidents within few hours.
