Police are investigating the discovery of the body of a 24-year-old woman under a culvert of a drainage outside Kileleshwa police station, Nairobi. A businessman who claimed she was standing outside the police station on January 11 noticed the body of Immaculate Atieno drowning into the culvert forming part of a tunnel along Mandera Road. She raised alarm and locals with police rushed to the rescue of the woman in vain. The body was later moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures. Kenyans will experience more pain for higher National Social Security Fund (NSSF) deductions starting February 2024. NSSF will hive off between Sh420 and Sh1,740 from workers’ pay-slips. Grammy award-winning South African DJ and record producer Black Coffee is receiving treatment for injuries sustained during a flight, reportedly because of air turbulence. Kenya has rejected some 110 travelers’ applications through the new Electronic Travelers Authorization (ETA). They were part of more than 32,000 travelers’ applications made through the system. Of these, 25,000 were approved in the past weeks. Uganda is set to chair the Global South Association of 120 countries after hosting the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Kampala in January 2024. At least 84 people died in separate accidents in the country in the first week of 2024. This is according to data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) which said the incidents happened between January 1 to January 7. The statistics are an increase compared to 72 recorded during the same period in 2023. Police are investigating the source of an explosive device that was found at the fence of a camp at Hagadera, Dadaab, Garissa County. A team at the Borehole Five Critical Infrastructure Police Unit Camp was returning there on January 9 when they stumbled on the FRG explosive on the fence. The driver of a 14-seater bus involved in a fatal road crash on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on Tuesday has been arrested. The grisly accident claimed 15 lives.
