President William Ruto wants authorities to investigate 3000 candidates who failed to sit for the 2023 KCSE exams. The candidates are said to have registered but did not write their exams. A section of police commanders in the Coast region were moved in changes triggered by a controversial eviction of residents that happened in Voi, Taita Taveta County. Among those affected include the Coast Regional Police Commander Kenneth Kimani, Taita Taveta county commander Patrick Okeri and Voi sub county commander Bernstein Shari. A matatu driver was Monday morning killed in a road crash along the Narok-Bomet highway involving two vehicles. The accident happened at Tegero area along Narok-Bomet road and involved a Toyota Hiace matatu belonging to Transcar Galaxy Sacco and Mitsubishi Fuso lorry after a head on collision. The accident happened at about 1 am as the matatu was headed for Nairobi. US Congress leaders have reached a deal over the total amount of spending for the rest of 2024 as they seek to avoid a partial government shutdown, local media report. Ms Hasina will serve another five years in office after her party the Awami League and its allies won at least 152 of 300 parliamentary seats contested. Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome has reprimands his juniors for dispersing opposition leader Raila Odinga’s supporters in Nairobi’s CBD. The victims were celebrating the former prime minister’s 79th birthday when officers lobbed teargas forcing them to scamper for safety. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s aircraft broke down during a trip to Jamaica, in his second travel incident in four months. The Canadian Armed Forces said on Friday that they were forced to send a second plane with a repair team to address the issue. Mr Trudeau was on the Caribbean island for a family holiday. The Biden administration was not told for days that US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin had been hospitalised, at least one official has told US media. Mr Austin, 70, was admitted to the Walter Reed Medical Center on Monday due to complications following surgery. The Israeli army said it had “completed the dismantling” of Hamas’s command structure in the northern Gaza Strip. Army spokesman Daniel Hagari told reporters that Palestinian militants are now operating in the area only sporadically and “without commanders”. An inquiry was Saturday opened into the violent land eviction exercise that occurred in Voi, Taita Taveta County. This left more than 3,000 people homeless prompting an uproar on the manner in which it was conducted.
