Donald Trump has asked the US Supreme Court to reverse a Colorado ruling that barred him from running for president in that state. Colorado’s top court said last month Mr Trump was not an eligible candidate as it said he had engaged in insurrection over the US Capitol riot. His appeal comes a day after he challenged a similar decision by Maine. Dozens of lawsuits have been filed in multiple states seeking to disqualify Mr Trump from the November 2024 ballot. Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is in support of peaceful protests set to be held next week over President William Ruto’s sustained attacks on the judiciary. Over 200 families living in Pioneer estate in Uasin Gishu County were evicted from houses belonging to the county government to pave way for the construction of new affordable homes. Some of the affected said they had been living in the houses for more than 30 years — as tenants. Many of them wondered why they were not given more time to relocate. The US, UK and ten other states Wednesday warned rebels in Yemen they will face consequences if they continue to attack commercial shipping in the Red Sea. In a joint statement, the group of mainly Western countries called for an immediate end to the attacks. Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have declared support for Hamas in the war it launched against Israel in October. Since November, the rebels have attacked commercial shipping in the Red Sea more than 20 times. They have used missiles, drones, fast boats and helicopters. At least five people were Thursday morning killed in an accident involving multiple vehicles in Timboroa ara along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway. Police said three victims died on the spot while two others succumbed to the injuries in hospital. The accident happened at Mlango Tatu area at about 0140 hours, police said. A team on the ground said preliminary investigations indicate that it involved a Mitsubishi bus and three other vehicles including a Toyota Probox. At least 20 people were Wednesday killed by two explosions near the tomb of Iranian Revolutionary Guards general Qasem Soleimani on the fourth anniversary of his assassination, state media say. State broadcaster Irib said another 60 people were wounded by the blasts during a ceremony near the Saheb al-Zaman mosque in the city of Kerman. A Nakuru medic Magare Gikenyi has filed a lawsuit in the Nairobi High Court asking for the taxation of donations, offerings, and tithes. The doctor objected to churches, mosques, temples, and certain non-governmental organizations (NGOs) not having to pay income tax. There was a tragedy when a businessman shot and injured a 10-year-old boy in Juja, Kiambu County. This happened as a group celebrated the New Year outside his restaurant in Mugutha area, police said. The businessman was disarmed of his pistol after the shooting as part of the probe into the incident.
