Dr Magare Gikenyi accuses Gitiri of holding five public offices thus denying other Kenyans a chance to serve in those capacities. The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has dispelled claims that a Sh17 billion consignment of edible oil imported by the government through the Kenya National Trading Corporation was unsafe for human consumption. KEBS on Wednesday said the consignment was inspected and tested and did not find any safety concerns. A 28-year-old man drowned while swimming at the pool of a hotel in Diani, Kwale County. Police said the incident happened at Papillon Lagoon Beach on December 4. The deceased was identified Brian Njuguna Nyambura who worked with Techno Company. He and his colleagues had booked at the hotel when he decided to go swimming. He later drowned and was rescued and rushed to Diani Beach Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police visited the scene and took the body to the mortuary. Police are investigating an incident in which a 75-year-old man was dead after he had been hacked to death in a village in Baricho, Kirinyaga County. The body of Caxton Mbuthia was found with multiple body injuries in Kiriti village. It was found lying dead outside a homestead and a blood-stained fork jembe was recovered from the house where the incident happened. The jembe was kept as an exhibit, police said. Authorities are investigating how electronic learning tablets that had been reported stolen were recovered at a neighbouring school in Msambweni, Kwale County. The headmistress of Shamu primary had reported on Monday that 23 electronic learning tablets, four tropies and three balls were stolen from her office by unknown people at unknown time.
