A police officer accidentally shot himself dead at the Kipkaren River police station in Turbo, Uasin Gishu County. Corporal Peter Muchemi who had been on duty on Wednesday was returning his weapon- an AK47 rifle to the armory steal box when he shot himself in the head, police said. The incident happened at about 10 am on Wednesday causing anguish among his colleagues. Detectives are investigating the incident. A man was crushed to death by a speeding train in Mbaruk area, Nakuru County. The train did not stop after the tragedy. The body of James Waweru was found lying on the Nakuru-Nairobi railway line long after the incident had happened on November 28, police said. Locals stumbled on the body and alerted police who picked it up to the mortuary. It was established that the body had been crushed on the head along the Nairobi – Nakuru railway line. Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has died at the age 100. He served as America’s top diplomat and national security adviser during the Nixon and Ford administrations. In a statement, Kissinger Associates, a political consulting firm he founded, said the German-born former diplomat died at his home in Connecticut. During his decades long career, Mr Kissinger played a pivotal, and sometimes controversial, role in US foreign policy. The statement from Kissinger Associates did not give a cause of death. The labor and employment court in Nairobi Wednesday stopped the appointment of David Nyambaso Nyandoro as the chief land registrar.  This follows the move by an activist to move to the court to stop the appointment made by lands Principal Secretary Nixon Korir on November 20. A police officer found guilty of receiving a bribe of Sh200,000 from a Chinese investor in 2018 was Wednesday sentenced to five years in jail or pay a fine of Sh1.9 million. He had received the monies in order to drop charges against the wife of the Chinese investor for being in the country illegally. The Anti-Corruption Court is Wednesday 29, set to sentence two Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers found guilty of receiving a Sh1 million bribe, concealing evidence, and obstructing Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers on lawful duty. The government will collecting the contentious Housing Levy until January 10, 2024, Lands CS Alice Wahome has said. In a statement, the CS said all employers will be required to remit the deductions until the said date. CS Wahome explained that employers will continue remitting their 1.5 percent contribution alongside a similar rate for their employees. A police officer was Tuesday night arrested after the body of his wife was found in his house with gunshot wounds in Eldoret town. Police said the incident happened on Tuesday, November 28 evening within the Railways police line. Gunshots were heard from the officer’s house and when police went to check they found the body of his wife lying in a pool of blood.
