The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has renewed its quest to regain ownership of the land on which Weston Hotel sits. In a new complaint, KCAA claims that Weston obtained orders two years ago suspending the case to pursue an appeal that has not advanced. A teacher examining the ongoing national examinations died after being hit by a helicopter propeller in a village in Ijara, Garissa County. The incident happened Tuesday morning. Police said the examiner who is a deputy head teacher at Masalani died on the spot after being hit in the head by the propeller of the chopper registration number 5Y-HNB. A driver was arrested after being found with several kilos of donkey meat at the popular Burma Market in Nairobi. The market is popular with meat. The seizure shows some residents could be consuming donkey meat without their knowledge. Police said they had been tipped off the driver was ferrying the donkey meat to the market on Monday night when they intercepted his car and found it therein. Rapper A$AP Rocky will stand trial on charges that he fired a pistol in a feud with a former childhood friend, a Los Angeles judge has ruled. The decision came on Monday during the second day of a preliminary hearing, which was attended by A$AP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers. Prosecutors say Mr Mayers, 35, pointed and fired a handgun at Terell Ephron two years ago, causing minor injuries. Mr Mayers, who has two children with singer Rihanna, has pleaded not guilty. Police are investigating an incident in which a junior police officer died by suicide after he shot himself in the head at the Nyakianga police station, Murang’a County. The body of Constable Douglas Mbugua was found in a pool of blood moments after he had shot himself in his house on Monday afternoon. Three spent cartridges were recovered at the scene. Police said they head a gunshot from his house and when they went to check on what had happened, they stumbled on the body on his bed. Mbugua lived alone in the house and had not shown any signs…

Officials are investigating an incident in which an unknown number of people who were on board a military chopper were injured when it crashed moments after take off from Buna hospital in Wajir North.  The Mi17 Kenya air force chopper was badly damaged after it dropped to the ground as the pilot tried to lift off Monday afternoon. The High Court has temporarily barred the Head of Public Service Felix Koskei from suspending 67 police officers over graft claims pending the hearing and determination of the case. Through lawyer Danstan Omari, the complainants sought orders halting Koskei’s directive, claiming that since they were not informed of the intention to suspend them, it would also violate their right to fair administrative proceedings. At least three people were Monday injured after a private chopper crashed at Wajir Airport, police and witnesses said. The victims included a pilot and two officials who were escorting examination materials from Wajir to Abarjahan in the same area. The chopper crashed less than a minute after taking off.  The cause of the crash of the chopper whose registration was 5Y-SDL was not immediately established, officials said. Police say Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja’s aide Osman Khalif is still missing. This came even as Osman was last Friday released by his abductors. He has kept indoors since then and chosen not to talk. It is not clear who was behind his abduction. Missing Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja’s aide Osman Khalif is a free man. Sources said Osman was freed last Friday from unknown captivity. He has since then kept a low profile and is not ready to discuss anything with any of his close friends and family. He had been in captivity for more than a week after his abduction from outside Sarit Centre in Nairobi. Osman has been under probe over claims of obtaining by false pretenses. Suspected thugs ambushed and killed a police officer before robbing him of his and his colleague’s guns in Alego Usonga, Siaya County. The gang grabbed the two weapons- an AK47 and an MP5- and escaped on foot, police said. The incident happened on Monday morning as the victim who died and his colleague were escorting examination papers, police said. A man was murdered and his body dumped at a church compound in Kayole, Nairobi. The body was discovered Saturday at the Deliverance Church in Mawe Mbili area, police said. Police said the face of the man was partially smashed and indications are that he was killed elsewhere and the body dumped there.
