Marsabit Senator Mohamed Said Chute has petitioned state agencies to probe Sh2.1 billion payments which he alleges were made irregularly by the county government. Chute petitioned the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to open an inquiry into the payments.

Police said they shot and killed Joel Kariuki who was wanted for robbery after he allegedly tried to attack one of those in the mission with a panga. Police and Kenya Power officials are investigating an incident in which a 29-year-old man was electrocuted at a car wash site in Diani, Kwale County. Emanuel Simiyu died on the spot after the Wednesday incident, witnesses said. He was washing his tuktuk at Erali Car Wash Kona Musa when he was electrocuted. Police are investigating an incident in which an Egyptian national was found murdered in his house in Gikambura shopping centre, Kiambu County. The body of Awny Karim Arisha Gouda, 45, was found in a pool of blood in his sitting room on Tuesday long after he had been murdered. The motive of the murder is yet to be known, police said. Kenyans traveling to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will no longer be required to get visas. DRC on Wednesday abolished visa requirements for Kenyans traveling to the country. Multi agency teams are investigating the cause of death of two bodies recovered from a tunnel dug on the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) fuel line in Kisumu. The second body of a middle-aged man was on Wednesday retrieved under the tunnel, police said. Police in Zambia arrested the wife of former President Edgar Lungu on three charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, which she denies. Esther Lungu who is currently in detention in the capital, Lusaka, has been arrested along with three others. A manhunt was launched for a former soldier suspected of terror offences who escaped from prison on Wednesday morning. Daniel Abed Khalife, 21, was awaiting trial after being accused of leaving fake bombs at a military base. He escaped from HMP Wandsworth, London, and is thought to still be in the city.
