Police in Juja, Kiambu County, have seized expired sanitary pads labeled Government of Kenya (GoK), at a residential house under construction in Witethie. The pads from the Ministry of Education valued at over Ksh300,000 were allegedly being repackaged for sale. According to the police, the sanitary towels are believed to have been looted from different counties around the country among them Kiambu, Mombasa, Kilifi and Murang’a. A Nairobi court on Thursday allowed late tycoon Tob Cohen’s widow, Sarah Wairimu, to collect her personal effects from her matrimonial home. Justice Stella Mutuku, allowed Ms Wairimu, who is charged with the murder of Cohen, to collect clothes, shoes and grooming tools from the Kitisuru home but under supervision by authorised officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). A Tanzanian court magistrate has been criticized over an alleged biased ruling. In the ruling dated December 19, 2017, Hon Shaid, the Kisutu Resident Magistrate, granted an abusive father physical custody of children on the basis of his wealthy and nationality. Police in Kakamega have cancelled permits issued to groups associated with Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi on scheduled Mumias rallies. President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed the ministry of health to halt the implementation of new changes announced by the  National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF). In a raft of changes, NHIF stated that married individuals can only include one spouse and a maximum of five children as dependents. “Additional dependents can be included subject to payment of additional premiums to be communicated after actual variations,” a circular sent out by NHIF reads in part. The High Court has directed Attorney General Paul Kihara to give his advisory opinion on state’s disobedience of court orders in lawyer Miguna Miguna’s case after he failed to attend court in person.
