Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has taken issue with Deputy President Wiliam Ruto for shifting blame to public officers over the government’s disobedience to court orders. Ruto on Sunday warned public officers on the disobedience of court orders saying they will be held individually responsible for their actions. Transport in Nairobi’s Kasarani-Mwiki road was on Monday morning paralysed as matatu operators went on strike to protest poor state of roads. The operators barricaded a section of the road forcing commuters to trek to Thika road before connecting to their different places of work as heavy rains pounded. School going children were also affected. Three teachers were on Monday morning killed and a baby injured after an attack by Al Shabaab militants in Kamuthe area, Garissa County. North Eastern Regional Police Commander Paul Soi has confirmed the 2.30 AM attack. The three male teachers are said to be non-locals. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) based in Nairobi’s Kamukunji area have recovered 515 assorted mobile phones suspected to be stolen property. In a tweet on Sunday, DCI stated that sleuths were following leads on stolen mobile phone dealers when they raided a shop within Muoroto along Jogoo road. Most of the phones recovered are smartphones. During the operation, three suspects were arrested. “Three suspects who could not give a proper account of all the phones in their possession were arrested, ” said DCI. China has pledged to support Djibouti in its bid for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The High Court has ordered Attorney General Paul Kihara to appear in court on Monday to explain the government’s reluctance to obey court orders in exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna’s case. Two suspects have been arraigned over the lynching of a primary school teacher in Kitui. The two, Wambua Mwangangi and Chris Kyalo Muli, were arrested on Thursday over suspicion that they were part of a crowd that burnt to death Ms Daisy Mbathe of Ndooni Primary School on Monday. The mob which comprised parents in the school allegedly attacked the teacher over the school’s poor performance in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations. Two days after Nakumatt was liquidated, creditors have reportedly identified billions worth of assets linked to the retail’s founder Atul Shal and members of his family. A report prepared by the, Patel Kahi, the retail chain’s court-appointed administrator, indicates that the banks have traced 11 properties worth Ksh3.68 billion and plans are underway for a possible seizure. Kwanza TV, a private-owned Tanzanian internet broadcaster, has requested the country’s competition tribunal for more time to file a new appeal after the initial one challenging a six-month ban imposed by state broadcasting authority was dismissed. The government has finally broken its silence on the drama surrounding embattled lawyer Miguna Miguna’s homecoming.
