Authorities in parts of the northern state of Kashmir in India have issued a statement directing residents to register WhatsApp Groups they administer. In the message sent out on Tuesday, January 7, the police stated that the move is aimed at promoting peace and communal harmony. Some of the affected districts are Leh (Ladakh) and Kargil. Four students died in the wee hours of Tuesday morning following an attack by Al Shabaab militants in Saretho area, Daadab sub-county, Garissa County. Kenyan security teams responded during the 1 AM incident killing two gunmen. They also recovered Two AK47 rifles and two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from the militants. Police in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, are holding three people after they were arrested on Sunday evening as they attempted to force their way into a highly secured British military camp in the area. The three, who were arrested on suspicion of being terrorists, are being interrogated by Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) officers. Residents of Bamburi area in Mombasa were on Sunday left in shock after a pastor stabbed his wife severally before committing suicide during a church service over alleged domestic row. The man of the cloth identified as Elisha Misiko of Ground For Jesus Church reportedly stabbed his wife, who was sitting with him at the pulpit, on the back, hands and head leaving her for the dead. The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has broken its silence over reports of an Al Shabaab attack at Manda-Magogoni naval base in Lamu County.
