A total of 50 students of Ofafa Jericho High School were on Monday night rushed to hospital after a fire incident. The inferno broke out in one of the dormitories in the school at around 7pm. A report from Jogoo Police Station indicated that the students inhaled carbon monoxide while trying to salvage their property. Some of the victims were taken to Metropolitan hospital in Buru Buru where they received first aid before they were transferred to other hospitals. They are all in stable condition. Two children aged three and four years have been rescued after being abducted from their home in Muthurwa, Nairobi. The two girls, Judy Nyakio and Teresia Njeri, had been lured from their home on Sunday evening as they played by a man who has been identified as Jackson Mutinda. The number of Covid-19 cases confirmed in the country rose to 246,530 on Sunday after 234 more people tested positive. In a statement to newsrooms, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the cases are from a sample size of 3,737 tested in the last 24 hours. Cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,498,049. The country’s positivity rate is now at 6.3 percent. From the cases, 231 are Kenyans while three are foreigners. 118 males while 116 are females. A senior doctor is in police custody after allegedly killing his two children before attempting suicide in Nakuru on Sunday. Reports indicated that James Muriithi Gakara, an obstetrician at Optimum Current Hospital in Nakuru, injected the two minors aged three and fives years with human insulin before attempting to take his life. Kenya on Friday received the first batch of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine donated by the United States government. The consignment containing 795, 600 doses of the vaccine arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Friday afternoon onboard a DHL Cargo aircraft. Four suspects have been arrested in connection with a spate of robberies and murders that have rocked Nambale town in Busia County over the recent past.
