Celebrations have started outside the Supreme Court after the six judge bench on Monday morning upheld President Uhuru Kenyatta’s October 26, election.
Reading the ruling, Chief Justice David Maraga dismissed the three petitions filed by Harun Mwau, Activists Njonjo Mue and Khelef Khalif as they ‘lacked merit.’
Jubilee supporters in the President’s backyard of Kiambu, Nyeri, Githurai 45, Eldoret are in the streets celebrating “their win”after the court on September 1 nullified Kenyatta’s August 8 win.
There is also heightened police presence in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD).
The President will be sworn in for a second term on November 28, 2017 at the Kasarani stadium.
