    Three Chinese Nationals Arrested With Ivory, Leopard Skin And Rotten Dog Meat In Kilimani

    Four Chinese Nationals were arrested today in Nairobi at Kilimani area with ivory, leopard skins and rotten dog meat. Ornaments made from wildlife trophies were also recovered from the residential house.

    The police acted on a tip off from the public who reported foul smell from the Chinese residence.

    A total of 5kgs of Ivory was recovered  valued at Ksh4 million. A tortoise kept as a pet was also found in the house, without authorisation.

    13,000 US Dollars in cash were recovered from the house, Ksh316,000 and 1,936 chinese Yuan, totaling to Ksh1.7 million.

    Assorted alcoholic drinks, cigarettes, food stuff, spices, expired canned fish and other  contraband goods  were also recovered. Three Chinese nationals namely Xing Wei a male adult, Zhang Jie a male adult and Shang Lie a female adult were arrested.

    Also arrested was one Kenyan male adult namely David Maseno Oseko were who was in company of the three Chinese. Various government multi agiences (Kebs, KWS, KRA, public health officers, Veterinary Department) were contacted who came and collected samples.

    The scene was secured and documented by crime scene support services. Scene was visited by DCIO and deputy OCPD Kilimani.

    In October last year, five Chinese Nationals were arrested in Lavington in possession of material that the police said threatened national security.

    Police found the Chinese nationals with teargas canisters, uniforms and computers allegedly used to operate a security firm.

    They nationals also did not have valid work permits.  One of those arrested allegedly worked at the standard gauge Railway(SGR).

    Before that, 12 nationals from the same country were arrested for engaging in prostitution in South C they were later deported.
