    Corey Perry is a Canadian professional ice hockey player born on May 16, 1985, in New Liskeard, Ontario.

    He plays as a right winger in the National Hockey League and currently suits up for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

    Perry has earned a reputation as one of the league’s most effective goal scorers and agitators, blending skill with a gritty, physical style that often gets under opponents’ skin.

    Nicknamed “the Worm” for his pesky on-ice antics, he has enjoyed a long and decorated career spanning multiple teams after being selected 28th overall by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

    Corey is the older of two brothers born to parents Geoff and Nancy Perry.

    His younger brother, Adam Perry, shares a deep connection to the sport and played alongside Corey during their junior hockey days with the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League.

    Adam pursued hockey further, including a stint in the American Hockey League, before transitioning to a career in law enforcement, following in the footsteps of their father Geoff.

    Career

    Perry’s path to the NHL started in the OHL with the London Knights, where he excelled and helped capture the Memorial Cup in 2005 while also earning international honors, including a gold medal with Canada at the World Junior Championships.

    He made his NHL debut with the Anaheim Ducks in the 2005-06 season and quickly established himself as a top-line contributor.

    Perry spent the first 14 years of his career in Anaheim, forming a formidable duo with Ryan Getzlaf and helping the Ducks win the Stanley Cup in 2007.

    After leaving the Ducks as a free agent in 2019, he embarked on a journey that included stops with the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, and multiple stints with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

    Known for his scoring touch, physical presence, and leadership, Perry has adapted to new teams while continuing to produce at a high level even later in his career.

    He has represented Canada internationally on several occasions, adding Olympic and World Championship experience to his resume.

    Accolades

    Perry won the Stanley Cup with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007 and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player with the Hart Memorial Trophy in the 2010-11 season, during which he also captured the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy as the NHL’s leading goal scorer with 50 goals.

    Perry has been selected to the NHL All-Star Game multiple times and earned First Team All-Star honors.

    In junior hockey, he was named Memorial Cup MVP and earned All-Star recognition.

    On the international stage, he has won gold medals with Canada at the World Junior Championships, the World Championships, and the Olympics, making him a member of the Triple Gold Club.
