The court of appeal has nullified Lamu senator Anwar Loitiptip’s election. The court of appeal sitting in Mombasa ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct fresh elections.

The high court had upheld the election of Anwar. The appellant who was also a candidate in the election appealed against the High court’s decision saying that the court erred by refusing to scrutinize the votes which is a an application he had presented.
