Police are investigating the murder of a man aged 55 after his decomposed body was found in a flood of water in Konoin, Bomet County.
The body had been partially submerged in water and had both hands tied at the back with a piece of cloth when it was recovered on December 31, 2025.
His mouth had been covered with a piece of cloth when the body was discovered, police said.
Police said the body had injuries on the face and forehead while his glasses were near the scene.
The man is believed to have been killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene.
The motive of the murder was not immediately known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an identification and autopsy.
Elsewhere in Lungalunga, Nairobi, a woman was found dead in her house.
The victim was identified as Mercy Achila and her body had visible injuries in the hands and leg. Neighbours said they heard her argue with her husband before the body was found lying in the house. police said the husband was missing when they picked up the body to the mortuary for autopsy.
Murder cases have been on the rise in many places in the country amid efforts to solve them, police said.
In Makimenyi, Chepalungu, two suspects were arrested over the murder of a man who was found dead on the roadside.
Police said they will face murder charges.
Elsewhere in Boya, Nyando, Kisumu County, a 12year-old boy drowned while swimming in River Nyando.
The body of the child who is a grade four pupil at Korowe Primary School in the area was in the company of four other children when the incident happened on December 31, 2025, police said.
They had gone to fetch firewood in the area when they decided to swim in the river leading to Lake Victoria. The body was not immediately found and the search continued into the New Year.
