Emotions Run High At Ivy Wangechi’s Funeral [Photos]

Moi University sixth year medical student Ivy Wangechi’s funeral is currently underway at her parent’s rural home in Othaya, Nyeri County.

Ivy, 25, was hacked to death by Naftali Kinuthia outside the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital on Tuesday last week.

The assailant who is being detained at Nauberi Police Station is said to have traveled to Eldoret from Nairobi to commit the heinous act.

During the ceremony, the deceased’s sister Cheryl was overcome with emotions and could not read her tribute.

Among the hundreds of mourners were local leaders, among them Othaya MP Gichuki Mugambi, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and and Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami.

Also present were her fellow comrades.

Last night, a vigil was held in Nyeri in honour of her memory.
