A middle age fisherman is recuperating at Tagache health center after surviving a chilling Hippopotamuses attack at Kowet beach, Nyatike Sub County in Migori County.
The victim identified as Odondi Ogolla had just made his way into the lake to embark on his daily fishing activities when he was surrounded by five hippopotamuses.
One surged at him and bit his hands as he struggled to break free and escape leaving him with serious injuries.

Confirming the incident South East Muhuru location Chief Mr. Jim Kawa said his colleagues were forced to abandon the boat and swim into the waters to escape as the hippos turned their wrath on them
He added that increase in the population of the hippopotamuses at the beach is a threat to the locals saying that many people and animals been maimed or killed and appealed to Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) to take action.
Mr. Kawa has however asked the locals especially the fishermen to take precaution when doing their fishing activities at the beach to avoid such attacks in future.
