Dennis Itumbi, State House Director of Digital Communication has been awarded Sh5 million as compensation for illegal arrest and detention for allegedly hacking the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) website in 2012.
Mr Itumbi had asked the court for compensation after he was arrested on March 2012 for allegedly hacking the ICC website and also interfering with witnesses who had been presented to the cases against Uhuru Kenyatta, William Ruto and Joshua Sang.

He said that he was detained for four days yet the prosecutor had not issued a warrant of arrest. Itumbi also said that police officers raided his house and confiscated his laptop and mobile phones.
He had said that the police detained him unlawfully and that his detention had nothing to do with the ICC cases.
Justice Onguto awarded Itumbi the compensation on account that he was illegally arrested.
