Seven MCAs from Homabay county were released on Monday on a bond of KSh250,000 ad a surety of the same amount after being held at Kodiaga Prisons for four days.
The MCAs are accused of assaulting Speaker Elizabeth Ayoo on October 16 in the county assembly hall on the basis that she is biased.
Appearing before Judge Fred Ochieng, the seven MCAs: Evans Marieba (Gwasi North Ward), Phelimon Onditi (Kagan Ward), Dan Were (Kakelo Kokwanyo Ward), Paul Wamunga (North Karachuonyo Ward) Geoffrey Juma Anyango (Kabondo West Ward), Paul Adika (Lambwe Ward) and Peter Kaula (Wang’chieng Ward) pleaded not guilty.
The county assembly members presented themselves to the Nyanza Regional DCI on Friday, where they were arrested and later taken to court.

Resident magistrate Rose Ndombi had initially denied them bail and ordered for them to be remanded for 14 days to allow prosecution enough time to carry out investigations.
The seven accused MCAs were released on the condition that they will not contact any witnesses and will not speak or comment the ongoing case.
The case will be mentioned on January 23.
