Homeboyz are the 2018 champions of the Prinsloo 7s after beating Mwamba 19-12 in the final at Nakuru Athletics Club on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Impala Saracens overpowered last year’s champions KCB 12-10 to bag bronze in the first leg of the national sevens circuit.

Bush Mwale drew the first blood for Homeboyz with Michael Wanjala converting successfully before Alvin Otieno doubled the lead with another Wanjala conversion for a 14-0 lead.

Daniel Taabu pulled one back for Mwamba but, Mark Wandeto extended Homeboyz’s lead with the third try.

Joel Izuga’s converted try was not enough for Mwamba to bounce back as the Deejays held firm for the win.

On the road to the final, Homeboyz beat Impala 29-12 while, Mwamba cruised past 10-5.

Homeboyz reclaimed the Prinsloo 7s crown which they lost last year after winning the 2016 edition.

They bagged maximum 22 points with the runners-up secured 19 points  as the second leg of the circuit moves to Eldoret next week for the Sepetuka 7s.

Kenya Harlequins won the fifth place final after seeing off Nakuru RFC 22-7 in extra time.

Mean Machine took home the challenge trophy after a 22-14 win over Strathmore Leos as Blak Blad beat Kisumu 22-7 to win the 13th place final.
