Edibles can provide a long-lasting and intense experience, but consuming too much can lead to discomfort, anxiety, or dizziness. Unlike smoking, the effects of edibles take longer to kick in and can last for several hours. If you’ve had too much, there are ways to ease the effects and recover more comfortably. Here is how to recover from edibles.

Stay Calm and Remind Yourself It Will Pass

The most important thing to remember is that the effects of edibles are temporary. Even if you feel overwhelmed, know that it will wear off with time. Try to stay calm and remind yourself that you are safe. Focusing on slow, deep breathing can help reduce anxiety.

    Hydrate and Eat Light Snacks

Drinking water can help prevent dehydration and may assist in flushing THC from your system. Avoid alcohol, as it can intensify the effects. Eating a light snack, especially something with fat, can help your body process the THC more steadily, reducing discomfort.

    Find a Comfortable, Quiet Space

If you feel too high, moving to a calm, familiar environment can make a big difference. Lie down in a comfortable position, dim the lights, and reduce noise. Playing soothing music or watching a familiar, lighthearted show can help distract your mind.

Use Black Pepper or Lemon to Reduce Anxiety

Some natural remedies may help counteract the overwhelming effects of THC. Chewing on black peppercorns or sniffing fresh lemon zest has been known to reduce anxiety caused by cannabis. These contain terpenes that can interact with THC to promote relaxation.

    Try a Walk or Shower

If you feel physically uncomfortable, taking a short walk in fresh air can help reset your focus. A warm shower or bath can also be soothing, helping to relax both the body and mind. Avoid overstimulating activities or anything that increases anxiety.

    Sleep It Off

If possible, allow yourself to rest. Sleeping is one of the best ways to let your body process the THC naturally. Even a short nap can help you wake up feeling more grounded and less affected.

    Wait It Out

The effects of edibles can last anywhere from 6 to 12 hours, depending on the dose and your metabolism. If you still feel uneasy, the best thing to do is wait it out while keeping yourself comfortable. Over time, the intensity will fade, and you will return to normal.
