    Google Photos automatically backs up your photos and videos to your Google account, helping you keep your memories safe and accessible across devices. However, some users may want to stop backups to save mobile data, protect privacy, or free up cloud storage space. Learning how to stop Google Photos backup helps you control what gets uploaded and manage your storage more effectively. With a few simple steps, you can disable the backup feature.

      • Open the Google Photos App
      • Access Backup Settings
      • Turn Off Backup
      • Check Device Folders
      • Verify That Backup Is Disabled

      Open the Google Photos App

    Start by launching the Google Photos app on your phone or tablet.

    Make sure you are signed into the correct Google account.

    • Open Google Photos
    • Check your account profile
    • Ensure the app is updated
    1. Access Backup Settings

    Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner of the app.

    From the menu, open the backup settings section.

    • Tap your profile icon
    • Open “Photos settings”
    • Go to “Backup” settings

    After turning off backup, confirm that new photos and videos are no longer uploading to Google Photos.

    You can check the app status to verify.

    • Return to the home screen
    • Look for backup status
    • Ensure syncing has stopped
