    IEBC Demands Sh80 Million Before Printing Of Voters Register As Ordered By Court

    The Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has demanded for Sh80million before it can comply with Supreme Court’s order on scrutiny.

    In a letter by its lawyers, Soweto and Co-Advocates, the commission says it is ready o comply with court order subject to affidavit by Silas Njeru but asked for facilitation fees.

    “For avoidance of doubt, the amount is Kenya Shillings 80 million only. Kindly but urgently thus confirm when the amount will be ready to enable us provide appropriate accounts details,” the letter read.

    The Court and parties concerned had on Wednesday morning agree that the petitioners bear the cost of photocopying.

    In a shock move, IEBC now demands 80 million to photocopy the document that has 450,000 pages which loosely translates to Sh200 per page prompting the petitioners to opt for a soft copy of the register.
